The project "Collapsing Sand Castle" confronts human desires in public spaces. It conveys a message of rejection to the standardization, systematization, and organization of society that suppresses or controls human desires through the body. The results of the project are expressed through animation films, media, still images, and set designs.
As in Spinoza's statement, "Desire is the essence of human nature." desire has become something that we must achieve in our lives. Our body, the “body without organs”, is a continuum of desire flows, a space where desire is concentrated and dispersed, a potential space where other machines are created or disappear. Desire and the body are the essence of human identity and the purest essence. However, we live chasing the objects of desire designated by others. Modern people who cannot express their desires are oppressed or distorted, and their appearance and inner selves become different, leading to numerous mental illnesses. People who have nothing tangible to hold onto build a collapsing sandcastle every day, dreaming of an illusory success. It illustrates the reality of people experiencing regression due to their inability to express their desires. Although it may appear highly personal, it is actually a story that is most likely universally relatable.
"Collapsing Sand Castle" presents a more ultimate reality than reality itself through the concept of a framework that allows one to move between realistic and unrealistic spaces in surrealistic form. Through this, it shows desire and reveals the process of degeneration that repeats itself to people.
RESEARCH / EXPERIMENT

meaning of a home has become distorted and explored the surrealist movement
that deals with desire and reality itself.
